We'd been talking about this for a while, so now was as good a time as ever to begin a vegetable garden.
Grandpa and nanny came over and gave us a hand.
We started by putting the soil into the pots supplied by grandpa, then carefully planted the seedlings into each one.
We of course got some advice from thelocal nursery so give ourselves at least a fighting chance :) So we think we have the right vegies and fruits for this time of the year.
Strawberries - yes, I know they should be planted in the colder months, but we'll give them a go.
And enough basil to feed half of Sydney!
We watered them later that afternoon, then gave them a spray of...something... :) I think it's some type of spray that helps protect against insects.
Later that evening, at papa's suggestion, Emma got busy working out a roster for when each of us is required for watering duty. Emma accommodated my only request for a weekend slot.
Closer inspection reveals Thursday completely missing from the roster, and some isolated cases of doubling up, but I'm sure Emma will see that the plants are watered every day and night!
The most important thing is Emma is getting right into the idea of taking care of the plants and making sure they reach their full potential. No doubt there will be veggie garden updates as the summmer progresses ;)
